As I was reading Travel Junkie: A Badass Guide to Solo Female Travel by Julia Dimon, I kept stopping to explore the links she shares. The book is filled with fantastic travel tips, and I’m sure I’ll get to reviewing the book later. Here, I wanted to cover one of her suggestions: to sign up for Travel Hacking Cartel. Now, I don’t tend to do what people tell me to do, but in this case, there was plenty benefit of doing so.
What It Is
Travel Hacking Cartel gives you all the ways you can earn frequent flyer miles without getting on a plane. I’m not (yet) one of those people who have enough miles to take first class international flights, but I aspire to be one, so I signed up for the 14-day $1 trial. Can’t beat that, right?
You get emails (not sure how frequently) with the latest offers, and you can pick and choose which to take advantage of.
What I Got
As soon as I signed up, I was directed to a page of deals. Some, I wasn’t interested in. But I did immediately take advantage of these opportunities:
- Sign up for emails with my Starwood Preferred Guest account for 50 points
- Get 500 United miles for signing up for their Mileage Plus Dining (limited time offer)
- Earn bonus United miles when you shop with Mileage Plus Shopping partners
There were other deals for airlines I don’t use, and credit card offers I wasn’t interested in. But Travel Hacking Cartel has an amazing guarantee: that you can earn enough miles for a plane ticket every three months, or you get free months of their service, and they’ll help you accumulate more.
The fee is $15 a month, which is a little steep, but I’m going to try it for 3 months and see what happens. Give it a try with me! Sign up for a $1 2-week trial here.
