It had been a long day. We’d luxuriated in Saint Tropez, some of us savoring kir royales (Champagne plus blackberry liqueur) at the yacht club overlooking the decadent harbor, followed by an equally luxurious two-course meal. It was any wonder nearly all of us showed up for evening yoga. We’d been instructed to buy food for dinner since our chef, Nathalie, was off. In the middle of France, beneath ancient oak trees, I sleep like never before. Well, that’s not accurate. I slept this hard last year at the Tuscan yoga retreat.  I’m not sure why I sleep so incredibly hard and deep on vacation. I guess it’s because I have no responsibilities beyond feeding myself. I have no child to get up. No job to go to. No groceries to shop for. I’m like a baby. Someone else takes care of me, so all I need to do is get ample rest.
