When I arrive in a new city, I make a beeline for the nearest outdoor market. It’s a great place to check out local produce (and buy it, if I’m renting an apartment and can cook on my stay), get a quick lunch, or buy a souvenir.
This photo was taken at the market in Saint Tropez, though it could have been taken anywhere. That’s what’s interesting: markets around the world sell similar things…except in the US where farmer’s markets focus on artisanal foods and local produce. But at a good market in France, you can also pick up a cell phone charger, a hat, batteries, olive wood spoon…everything you could possibly need!
