The Magic of Being, Not Doing, on Vacation

If I am allowed to have one gripe about the yoga retreat I went to last year on Tuscany (and yes, I know I am not allowed to complain), it would be that I did too much.

Now, this was my own fault. There were just too many unmissable excursions. I never managed to just sit down at the Villa and reflect or read.

So for this year’s retreat in Provence at Bastide Avellanne, I vowed to do things differently. I promised myself I would be more than do.

And it’s been great. I’ve read a ton. Gone on walks. Napped. Napped some more. Written like crazy.

And I feel amazing. It’s as if by being, I giving my body a break from the usual frantic effort to see and do it all on vacation. And I still come away fulfilled.
